Large Quinta located close to Miranda do Corvo and Penela with 82000m2 of land.
Just over 25km from Coimbra, Quinta da Cheira is located in a village close to Miranda do Corvo in the district of Coimbra. The Quinta has 82086 m2 of land among green forested hills and still has the animal shelters and barns of old. The Quinta was purchased by Augusto Leal de Gouveia Pinto in the mid-nineteenth century from the convent of Semide and has since been in property of the same family.
In times past the Quinta produced corn, hazelnuts and timber in large quantities that were sold in the area. To a lesser amount the farm produced vegetables, beans, wine and oil. There were also sheep, pigs, goats and oxen to pull the carts and plough the land in times gone by. This was part of everyday life a Quinta da Cheira which can be resurrected again. The farm also has forest consisting of, among other species, eucalyptus, pine, chestnut and linden trees.
The Quinta has 2 farmhouses as well as other annexes for livestock. The main farm house is adjacent the smaller property that was used by the farm-workers. The area around the two houses you will find the threshing area and the romantic garden sited by the main farmhouse. Surrounding the main farmhouse are the annexes and barns originally intended for animals and farm production and storage, there are also ruins of the old water mill and a dovecote.
The main farmhouse has 190 m2 of usable floor-space, divided into three floors the property comprises of: an attic that covers the entire area, a floor with three bedrooms, lounge, dining room, bathroom, porch and kitchen. The ground floor of the property has a large entrance off the country lane leading to the wine cellar where the olive oil was also stored.
The farm-workers house has 118 m2, and two floors. The first floor consists of two bedrooms and bathroom, the lower floor has a kitchen and lounge.
The romantic garden is located behind the main house. The garden is shaded by many Camellia trees has a central fountain where you can relax from the heat of the hot summer days.
The area surrounding the Quinta has many places of interest including the Quinta da Paiva Park that offers visitors the opportunity to make contact with the local wildlife and fauna. The nearby town of Miranda do Corvo has an equestrian centre, cinema, arts theatre, weekly market, monthly antique fair and much more. The large town of Lousã is only 10 minutes away where you can swim in the shade of the medieval castle sited high above the town.
